I am so lucky, I got this photo today from one of our very talented Hunt Photographers (thanks, John Miller.) It reminded me how much I miss Hunting. The good news is, I got my brace off last Friday and have finally started physical therapy; though I still have a long road ahead of me.
Someone asked me today at the grocery store are you nervous about getting back on? I don’t know why, but I’m not. I’m going to liken this to childbirth. I have two children, so I guess it wasn’t so bad, cause I did it twice. You, forget how hard it is to get through the whole thing and before you know it you are pregnant again. To be honest, if my Doctor told me today, go for it. I would have already been back in the tack. It seems so empty to not be riding and caring for my horse. I have always taken care of my own, no boarding for me. Turn in, turn out, feeding, mucking, you know the deal. Now I do none of that…….
My mudroom which is also like a tack room is my reminder every time I walk in the door that this is more than just a hobby. It is part of who I am and what makes me tick.
I am so thankful for all of you. The videos, emails and well wishes have been so wonderful as I go through this long process. But I’ll be back in the tack as soon as I can……..riding along with all of you!
In my absence Kick on!

Would love to hear about your recovery! I broke my T12 10 days ago at a hunter pace.

Hi Amy,
I’m sorry to hear about your accident, from my experience, it is quite a long road. I did everything my Doctors told me and religiously did my physical therapy and had a wonderful season of hunting this past fall. I was a little apprehensive getting back on, but so glad I did. Be patient, your bones will not start to heal for about four weeks and it can get aggravating. I’m sure you have seen the little felt fox that I have made. That got me through having a lot of time on my hands. Find something to keep you occupied and you will be fine. You are now a brave member of the “broken back” club. We are a small, but proud group. Sending healing vibes your way!
XO
Sissi

Thanks Sissi- I won’t ride again. My hubby says so and sadly I agree. I was thinking if your site ever wants a guest writer, I would love to contribute a piece about the “wannabe foxhunter”, a 56 yr. old horse crazy woman who loves all things fox hunting related, but, too chicken to actually hunt! I did my own blog for 2 years about renovating my farmhouse!
