RACE DAY!

March 31, 2016 by Sissi

This picture says it all, go Becca!

I really don’t even know where to start.  I had planned on Blogging, Instagramming and Facebooking all weekend, but once we were swept up in the whirlwind, I barely had time to look at my phone.  I have to say; it’s been a long time since I allowed myself the luxury to really be in the moment and experience everything with raw joy!  I did manage to try to take some videos on race day, but I didn’t want to miss anything so I mostly I took videos of the grass……Anyway, There are so many crazy things that went on I think we need to start at the end which would be race day.  I’ll post later about everything in between!

Let’s first talk about the race results.  A huge congratulations to all these amazing ladies!

1st-   SUSAN OAKES – FORT HENRY

2nd- MARY MUSHENO – LUCKY TO HAVE HIM

3RD- BERNADETTE BOLAND – KING OF HEARTS

4TH – MAUREEN BRITELL – TANGO

5TH – DEVON ZEBROVIOUS – HANDSOME IS

6TH – SARAH O’HALLORAN – PATRICK

7TH – JULIE NAFE – MADAME BELVEDERE

8TH – JENNIFER KOBILINSKI – PENNY

9TH – AMY JO MAGEE – LITTLE LADY

10TH CHRISTINA MULQUEEN – WAFFLES

11TH – BECCA BARKER – SHILOH

12th – CATHI GROVE – FIGURE IT OUT

Our friend Amy Wodaski had a fall out Hunting with the Cheshire on Saturday and had to scratch.  You were missed, Amy!

Thank you, Susan Oakes our winner for wearing your head cam, so we could come along with you.  It was a pleasure to hang out with you and your gang!

Nerves of steel!

The ladies

After the race was over Chasing a Fox was honored to present Susan with the winning cooler that we had custom made for the occasion.

This is Amy Magee, who won best turnout.

It was really fun that I got to be one of the Judges, all the ladies looked lovely, but there could only be one winner!

When things quieted down, we were invited back to the Cheshire Stables to take some pictures of the spectacular winning horse with his new cooler on.   This horse is the marvelous Irish-bred horse “Fort Henry”, who previously competed in the Maryland Hunt Cup before becoming a staff horse to Stephanie Boyer and Ivan Dowling at the Cheshire Hunt, What horse!

One more of my favorite things was when we were in the Cheshire tack room I was so pleased to be able to see Susan’s Saddle.  Pretty nice, just sayin!

If we learned anything this weekend, it was that the Sidesaddle community is a force to be reckoned with.  These women were all true sporting ladies, and we loved getting to spend time with them all!
A great big Thank You to The Cheshire Hunt for a lovely weekend. We had a ball!

What a fantastic horse and rider combination are the race winners and super side saddle riding by all.
Lovely clear footage too from the headcam.
See also the Dianas of the Chase side saddle race on Facebook from Nov 2015 race in Quorn Hunt country, Leicestershire, England. Some headcam footage and stills. Fearless riders one and all!
Thanks for sharing this – Dee
