The Cheshire Hunt
Our Saturday started out with a bang. We were lucky to be carted around by our dear friend Lisa Thomas who drives wicked fast, BTW! We went to her house and hopped in her truck and off we went to see them go. What a hard riding bunch of serious foxhunters! They went for hours, and we happily followed along. I managed to take a video of the hunt when we saw a fox. I broke one of the hunting rules and yelled “Tally-Ho.” Luckily I didn’t disrupt his line, and no hounds were around yet. (I’m feeling the shame!) I really was blind with excitement the whole weekend.

After we were done following we stopped over for a quick visit to Silva and Boyd Martin’s Farm Windurra. Silva, Lisa, and Kim are all buddies, and I got to tag along.
We got to watch Silva teach a dressage lesson, WOW, was that cool! It was Easter weekend, and my wing girl for the trip Kim Barratt wore her bunny ears most of the time. Notice the big mirror at the end of the beautiful outdoor dressage ring!
When we were done at Windurra, we headed back to our hotel to get ready for the cocktail party.
One thing that I learned this weekend is there must not be many rotaries in Ohio because every time we went around one it went a little something like this……

The party was being held at Brooklawn, the former home of the famous Mrs. Nancy Penn Smith Hannum-Master of Mr. Stewart’s Cheshire Foxhounds for more than half a century. One of our favorite books happens to be about Mrs. Hannum.-The Lady Blows A Horn http://amzn.to/1M9U7ff When we arrived at Brooklawn; the field was filled with cars heading in for this exciting event. We were met a the door by Mrs. Hannum’s Son Jock, who was so warm and welcoming. We had met him that morning at the meet, and he brought us inside. Wow, what a beautiful home Brooklawn is, we were happy to be there rubbing elbows with the fun Cheshire crowd. This is gonna sound a little crazy, but one of our favorite rooms in the house was the coatroom/bathroom. It was filled with beautiful pictures of the Hannum hunting legacy. Even Susan Oakes got in on the bathroom shenanigans.

What happens in the Hannum bathroom, stays in the Hannum bathroom!
Here is a shot of us being ladies at the cocktail party!
After the party was over we headed to the Whip for more food and drinks; http://bit.ly/1N5bp88 The Whip’s motto is – Down Ales, not Rails! It’s a wonder any of us made it to the race the next morning.
Maybe now you can all appreciate why I’m so tired. Till the next race on the 17th, I’d better get some rest!
XO
