Because we are are guilty on occasion of busting out our Top Hats, we wanted to share this option with you. First and foremost we are proponents of ASTM/SEI-certified helmets, but if you’re anything like us, sometimes we just can’t help ourselves. So this may be an option, at least, better than our vintage beaver top hats.
We had seen another “safety top hat” in the past but thought it looked quite awful for hunting. First let’s go over some ground rules. Never, ever, ever, ever, wear a dressage hat and think it’s correct. A proper hunting top hat for a gentleman would have a crown of 5 1/2″ and for a lady it would be 4 3/4″.
{Honri Crash Top Hat}
We were thrilled to stumble upon this wonderful hat maker who got it right. Honri Crash Top Hats are all made using the traditional methods of a Goss body. This is then covered with a fur felt hood, that could be done in any color that you wish to have. In essence, you have a hunting top hat with a hunt cap inside. This gives the fit of a hunt cap, but the look of a top hat.

Each hat is made to order and personally fitted to the rider. The crash top hat costs £995.00. They could also do the same with a bowler.
We just think these are brilliant, and spot on correct!
Happy Hunting!
