A SIDEWAYS GLANCE AT THE PADDOCK PART VI

March 23, 2016 by Sissi

I’m going to apologize ahead of time; in the spirit of the race, I’m going to be Blogging a lot.   I don’t want to leave any of these lovely ladies out!

I would like to introduce everyone to another one of our Jockeys- Bernadette Boland

BernadetteBernadette aboard the lovely King of Hearts

How old are you?

19 years old

Who are you riding?

King of Hearts (King)- 16 years young and 16.1h TB

Where are you coming from?

Middleburg, VA

How long have you been riding, and when did you start to ride sideways?

I have been riding for 13 years and started riding aside about four years ago.

Are you a Foxhunter?  If so, how long have you been hunting and who do you hunt with?

I hunt with The Middleburg Hunt and have been for the past three years.

What do you love about sidesaddle?

The thing I love most about side saddle is the elegance and uniqueness of it. Seeing a lady riding aside is one of the prettiest pictures a person could see, and it’s such an amazing thing to be a part of something so historic making such a resurgence in the show and hunt worlds, and now race world.

What do you do when your not riding?

I love to travel (I’m young so I’m still working on filling my passport up)

What part of the weekend are you looking forward to most?

I’m really looking forward to meeting more ladies that ride aside, and racing along side them.

Chasing a Fox would like to wish Bernadette good luck on race day!
