As my husband who loves lacrosse would say, “The clock is on the field”! In five days the very brave ladies of the Cheshire Point to Point Sidesaddle race will be tearing around the track, and we will all be holding our breath as we watch them fly by!
Today we would like to introduce you to-Amy Wodaski
{Amy on her lovely Irish mount Bart, Chasing a Fox is partial to the Irish boys}
So, Amy, inquiring minds want to know…….
I am riding Bartender “Bart”. An 18 yo, 17.1 bay Irish Sport Horse Gelding. Bart is a lovely foxhunting gentleman who is kindly lent to me from Annmarie Ingersoll and Christina Mulqueen. Christina is also riding in the race.
I started riding when I was 12 and while my parents didn’t ride they provided their horse crazy daughter with lessons and support. I have been riding aside for four years. I was in a serious car accident that left me with permanent damage to my right hip. A friend suggested that sidesaddle might be a more comfortable way to ride. I tried it and immediately felt the improvement. I was fortunate that my mare was well suited to it, and it became my main way of riding.
I am relatively new to fox hunting, and while I am not a member of a particular hunt, I have enjoyed being a guest at several hunts and don’t know why I have waited so long to participate.
I love the tradition and elegance of riding aside. Sidesaddle has been a wonderful way to share new experiences with my beloved horse, Taylor, that I have owned for 16 years. Sadly I had to retire her this past year. I have met great friends through sidesaddle and appreciate the supportive nature of the community. It is through those friendships that I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to ride Bart.
I am a Human Resources Business Partner, and when I’m not working, I spend time with my husband who loves fly fishing as much as I love sidesaddle and doing pet therapy for Hospice with my dog.
I am looking forward to spending time with friends and meeting ladies in person that I only know online. I’m very excited to participate in the wonderful events Cheshire has so thoughtfully planned.
Chasing a Fox would like to wish Amy and Bart good luck on race day!
